Liberty and Sugar are my goat A team. They have developed into a team of rivals. By that I mean that Liberty and Sugar push each other in a positive and constructive way. We begin first thing in the morning, when we load up and head over to the goat pasture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over in the pasture we’ll do either one of two jobs, depending upon the weather and the season. On some days, the goats get moved over to the other paddock to ruminate for an hour and then returned to their home paddock. Just one of the dogs will handle both moving tasks. But on other days, the goats get brought out of the fence and ruminate the open land for an hour. Once again, one dog does the work while the other dog watches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In either case, both Liberty and Sugar are trained to move the goats or tend the goats as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the work is done, the fun begins. That’s when we use play as a reward. Our play usually takes the form of either team ball fetch, or hiking together in the woods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liberty and Sugar have been working together and playing together since Liberty was a young pup. They work individually, and we play together afterwards. It is a rewarding and enjoyable life for all of us. Old-fashioned Black and Tan English Shepherds are a versatile line of all-purpose farm dogs who are eager to please their owners and have an easy to flip on\/off switch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
